Ohio GOP Rep. Warren Davidson Calls for GOP to Unite Behind a Plan Following Election

by Charlotte Hazard

Congressman Warren Davidson, R-Ohio., says the House GOP needs to unite behind a plan if they keep a majority in the House after the election.

The House on Wednesday voted to pass a stopgap to fund the government for three months in order to avoid a government shutdown.

Eighty-two Republicans voted against the continuing resolution, with many arguing that these constant continuing resolutions don’t responsibly fund the government.

“None of our body really believes this is what we came here to do,” Davidson said. “It might feel like it’s necessary. We don’t have better options. There’s a lot of frustration. But … at the end of the day, we need to unite behind a plan.”

Davidson said the House needs to get behind a plan, then find a leader who can accomplish that objective.

“I think that’s where we landed after Kevin McCarthy was removed,” he said. “Everyone just united behind Mike Johnson, because he’s someone everyone likes. But we haven’t yet united behind a plan.”
